ECORYS - Evaluation Debt Management and Financial Analysis System Program - 2009
Project Description:
Provided insight into the development, management and implementation of the programme since May 2005, to identify any problems that arose and how they were dealt with, to record results, both interim and final, and to recommend improvements. The emphasis of the evaluation was on the policy relevance, effectiveness and efficiency of the programme.
ADB & DFID - Vietnam ADB/DFID funded Making Markets Work for the Poor, Phase II - 2009
Project Description:
Provided technical assistance to ADB and other agency project and programme design activities by building and mobilizing networks around the market development agenda. Developed and assisted the Ministry of Finance in:
(i) executing a clear dissemination strategy to communicate results and lessons arising from projects to key business audiences throughout Vietnam;
(ii) administering VMPCF grants to grantees;
(iii) establishing and maintaining financial management, accounting and reporting systems for disbursement of grants;
(iv) establishing and implementing an M&E system on the impact of funded projects.
DFID - ODI Research Project: Measuring the Economic Benefits of Competition - 2009
Project Description:
Assignments were carried out in five countries (Kenya, Zambia, Ghana, Vietnam and Pakistan) and four markets (sugar, beer, cement and mobile phones) were chosen as the focus of analysis. In 2009 these four markets were analysed in each country.
For each country, the analysis looked at: the policy context and business environment, the degree of competition in the market, market outcomes. The team collected the necessary data and information on each market, interviews key consultative people and undertook economic analysis and drafts the country report.
DANIDA (Copenhagen) - Thematic Study: Case studies in Laos and Vietnam - 2009
Project Description:
Conducted case studies on Laos and Vietnam which involved detailed investigations on donor aid allocation and disbursement in order to determine the sourcing of goods and services and the externalities on the local and regional markets, including trade effects as well as cost-effectiveness.
JICA - Assessment Study of Local Capacity of Lai Chau Province in Planning and Implementation of Infrastructure Development - 2009
Project Description:
Monitoring and evaluation study on the local capacity of Lai Chau province. Project involved identifying the capacity gaps within the district and provincial levels of government, both legal and administrative, by conducting a comparative study on the investment of government funded small-scale infrastructure investments with donor funded investments.

Ministry of Education & World Bank - Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes - 2008
Project Description:
Worked jointly with the National Research Institute for Educational Sciences (RIES) of Lao PDR to design tests which measure student achievement, and provided data to measure progress since the First Round assessment, data entry and analysis, and report writing.
Save the Children US - Dawn Microfinance Programme Impact Assessment - 2008
Project Description:
Conducted a survey in order to evaluate the impact of the program on the lives of poor women clients and their families, including possible reduction in their vulnerability through increased human, social and financial assets. Involved conducting in-depth interviews or possibly focus group discussions and a quantitative survey as necessary (with a sample size of at least 300).
World Bank (in East Timor) - Household Survey in East Timor (TLSLS 2007 Extension) - 2008
Project Description:
Timor Leste Living Standards Survey, focused on vulnerability to shocks, access to financial services, land management techniques, and perceptions and use of community dispute mechanisms.
